Bathampton L1 Leisure. Site Information. No Vacancies. Bathampton is a historic and pretty canalside village located two miles to the east of the World Heritage City of Bath. This towpath mooring site on the Kennet & Avon Canal is 350 metres long and is currently provides space for up to 17 vessels. The monument includes a slight univallate hillfort, situated on the summit of a prominent hill known as Bathampton Down, overlooking the valley of the River Avon. The hillfort survives as a large roughly-rectangular enclosure defined by a slight single rampart and ditch which geophysical survey has shown to have been of drystone construction. Lindisfarne is situated in Bathampton on the A36 one and a half miles from the city centre. From Bath: Follow the signs for Warminster (A36). After passing Down Lane on your left our sign should be visible on the right. (Approx 50 metres.) Travelling into Bath on the A36 we are on the left approx 150 metres past the 30mph sign.
