New York, NY. John Selya (CBA '16), a native New Yorker, was trained at the School of American Ballet. As a student, Selya performed in productions at New York City Ballet, New York City Opera, and American Ballet Theatre. In his final year there, he was awarded the Mae L. Wien award for outstanding promise. Selya then joined American Ballet On August 13, 1961, the Communist government of East Germany began to build a barbed wire and concrete "Antifascistischer Schutzwall," or "antifascist bulwark," between East and West Berlin.
