NEWMARKET, Ont.—Mars Canada has begun making chocolate-coated Maltesers at its manufacturing plant just north of Toronto. The candy and pet food firm completed a $70 million expansion at its US confectionery major Mars has opened an expanded manufacturing facility in Canada, which will produce Maltesers chocolate for the first time in North America. The $70 million, 60,000 square foot expansion in Newmarket, Ontario, will create up to 30 full time jobs, increasing the company's manufacturing capacity to serve the growing North 1932. The original MARS bars were made by hand, marking the start of the very first chapter of the iconic candy bars. The Mars Bar was originally produced in Slough, England in 1932.
