Jean Cruguet (born March 8, 1939, in Agen, Lot-et-Garonne, France) is a retired French-American thoroughbred horse racing jockey who won the United States Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing . At age five, Cruguet was placed in an orphanage after his father abandoned the family and his mother was unable to cope. Seattle Slew became America's 10th Triple Crown Winner in 1977, and was the only TC winner to accomplish the feat while undefeated until Justify in 2018. Seattle Slew (February 15, 1974 - May 7, 2002) was a champion American Thoroughbred racehorse who became the tenth winner of the American Triple Crown (1977).
