In about a half-mile, take a right just before the Highway Maintenance area. In a few hundred feet turn right into the trailhead parking lot. Since tunnel closure is around the corner wanted to check out the Snoqualmie Tunnel before it is closed. Tunnel is typically closed between November 1st and May 1st. What is the Snoqualmie Tunnel? The Snoqualmie Tunnel is just over two miles long and is part of the Palouse to Cascades rail trail, managed by the Washington State Parks. The trail provides recreation in both winter and summer! You can hike on it in summer, ski on it in winter, but biking is a good way to see more of it more quickly. The trail is typical double track rail-to-trail in this section and is all in good condition. We also sidestepped along the unmaintained section east of the Tokul Rd tunnel/culvert an additional quarter mile or so to the final fenced private property line.
