Widcombe is a district of Bath, England, immediately south-east of the city centre, across the River Avon. The electoral ward was merged with Lyncombe at the boundary changes effected at the elections held on 2 May 2019; the two places have historically been connected (refer to the Lyncombe article). Widcombe Manor is one of the most famous houses of Bath and of the West Country. In its idyllic setting by the historic church of St Thomas à Becket, it is on a popular route for tourists, and pictures abound of the house and church together. Legend has claimed that it is the manor house of 'the royal manor of Widcombe'. The site is indicated to have maintained a defined tree belt along the northern boundary, screening the garden from Widcombe Hill, by the late 19th century at the latest, which has been sustained. A further mix of loose tree planting is evident along the western boundary of the site, moving down into a concentrated area of denser planting Christ-centred, Bible-believing evangelical Church in Bath.
